Internet Retail Sales Up 24%
According to the United States Department of Commerce, 1st quarter 2005, Internet Retail Sales is up 23.8% amounting to US$19.8 billion. Note that these figures is for United States only. The global retail sales must be staggering.
This growth was attributed to consumers' comfort level using the Internet as a facility to purchase goods. Guess which category of goods is seeing rapid growth.... Automotive, nope. Computer items, nope. Financial services, nope. It is jewelry... Surprised? So was I when I read that piece of news. How can one buy jewelry over the Internet? It's just... ironically, not secure.
